RMI Completes Data Center Expansion

May 1, 2008 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web-based transportation and logistics solutions provider RMI (railcarmgt.com) announced on Tuesday that it has completed its $2.5 million data center expansion project.

Level 1 PCI DSS Certified Service Provider! DataPipe delivers the best network & support; top tier data centers; New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai. DataPipe - Personal Touch, Global Reach.

The company says that it has opened a new state of the art disaster recovery site in Atlanta, and has upgraded all production and backup servers to the IBM POWER6.

In its recent press release, RMI adds that over 400 of its customers were migrated to the new systems with minimal downtime, and a new disaster recovery data center was opened to provide total redundancy for all production systems.

In addition to installing redundant POWER6 servers to mirror the production site, RMI says it installed an 80 KVA UPS and 200 KW natural gas powered generator in the building. To provide redundant Internet paths to the new data center, RMI also installed a 10MB wireless internet connection.

The data center is cooled by three eight ton APC air conditioning units that use advanced control systems that rotate the assignment of the units to evenly distribute the load and ensure that the units are always operating properly, says the company.

"This data center expansion represents a significant investment by RMI, and demonstrates the high level of commitment we have to providing our customers with the most technologically advanced and secure computing platform available," says Pete Kleifgen, CEO of RMI. "We are in this business for the long haul, and consider this type of investment an integral part of our strategy to remain the technology leader in this industry."

Founded in 1979, RMI says it provides "critical web-based transportation and logistics solutions for a variety of participants in the transportation industry" and its services assist customers with many aspects of managing their operations, including rail transportation, equipment utilization, revenue management, and intermodal operations. RMI is a portfolio company of Carlyle Venture Partners III (carlyle.com), a US-based multi-stage growth capital fund that invests in venture capital, growth equity and growth buyout transactions.

In another data center expansion announced yesterday, ResellerChoice expanded into PEER 1's New York City data center.
